Six young scientists of the Cluster of Excellence Quantum Universe receive a Best Paper Award for their outstanding scientific publications. With this award, the Cluster of Excellence honors the special research achievements of young scientists in particle physics, astroparticle physics and mathematical physics once a year.
The prize recognizes the research of young scientists and is a special format of the Cluster of Excellence's graduate school Quantum Universe Research School (QURS). “The research in our cluster is significantly supported and shaped by our young scientists. Therefore, it is more than appropriate to recognize their outstanding work with an award and to make their contributions more visible. I am delighted with the quality, originality and also the scientific breadth of the winning papers,” says Prof. Dr. Jan Louis, spokesperson of the Cluster of Excellence.
The Best Paper Awards were presented for the first time in 2021. In the future, three PhD students, two postdocs and one young investigator group leader from particle physics, astroparticle physics and mathematical physics at the Universität Hamburg and DESY will be awarded annually. The award winners each receive 1000 euros to be used for research-related expenses and a personal prize money of 100 euros.
