Academic Career Toolkit - designed for female scientists

The program Academic Career Toolkit (previously Academic Leadership) offers a series of workshops to support female scientists in their career management. The workshops address advanced Postdocs with (future) leadership responsibilities, i.e. Juniorprofessors, “Habilitandinnen”, junior research group leaders and postdocs with several years of experience.

dynaMENT - Mentoring for women* in natural sciences

We invite female* doctoral students, postdocs and juniorprofessors of QU to take part in the mentoring program dynaMENT. Participants benefit from one-to-one mentoring as well as networking events and workshops. Young scientists from all partner organizations (DESY and UHH MIN faculty, including QU and CUI) are selected for the yearly cohort.

Annual Event: Scientific Career and Parenthood

Scientific Career and Parenthood provides expert input into the legal framework of limited work contracts (under the WissZeitVG) and their effects on e.g. parental leave. In the subsequent panel discussion we invite a number of researchers from different career stages to share their strategies on how to manage career and family life, what support they receive and which obstacles they face.

International Arrival

Our annual panel discussion International Arrival addresses the challenges of arriving at UHH as an international student or researcher. It is held in English and offers both input and the opportunity to share experiences and learn from others. The event is organised by the four Clusters of Excellence at Universität Hamburg and is part of the University's Diversity Days.

Decolonial Walking Tours

In cooperation with 'Grenzgänge e.V.', we regularly organize guided walking tours for QU members. The tours offer the opportunity for informal networking and a new perspective on Hamburg's history. While the tours address newcomers and international members specifically, the tours are open to everyone!

Science and beλond — LGBTIQA* Network

LGBTIQA* stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer and Asexual. If you are part of the community or would like to show your support as an ally, you are invited to join Science and beλond – the LGBTQIA* network. The network hosts regular social events, informative impulses, empowerment and awareness workshops.

Girls' Day: Empowering the Next Generation

Girls' Day, celebrated annually in many countries, is a special initiative aimed at encouraging girls to explore fields traditionally dominated by men, such as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Girls' Day helps to dismantle gender stereotypes and provides female students with hands-on experience and the chance to meet female role models who can inspire them in their career choices.
