Input and panel discussion in English
Internationalization forms an integral part of the University’s profile. Every year, Universität Hamburg welcomes new researchers from all over the globe, who grapple with similar questions: What do I need to know in terms of legal regulations and rights? Where can I receive support at the University? How can I get in touch with other internationals and what are general networking options? How to orient myself to and settle into the German academic system? In the context of a global pandemic, those questions gain new urgency and partly require different answers.
This is where the panel “International Arrival” means to intervene, addressing the challenges of arriving at UHH under the current conditions. This year, the panel will be held in person again and will feature a short presentation by the university's Welcome Service. The audience will then have the chance to ask questions. A subsequent podium discussion will complement the introductory talks. By providing a forum to incoming researchers, this podium hopes to facilitate a productive exchange on both potentials and challenges encountered. It thereby seeks to generate input on how to further optimize the process of settling in for international researchers at the University.
